There are three jetties, north, east and south.
Tampico and Coatzacoalcos, however, have been improved by breakwaters or jetties, and the deepening of the Channels across the bars, into safe and commodious harbours.
By dredging and the construction of jetties the Federal government has since 1885 greatly improved the channel at the mouth of the river.
Two long jetties or breakwaters have now been constructed, about 350 acres of harbour area have been dredged to a depth of 30 ft., and two wharves of steel and concrete, one 600 ft.
The harbour, built in 9 04-1908, is formed by two jetties, one of 6840 ft., the other of 1968 ft., the entrance being 720 ft.
