In the inner apartment the principal object was the baptismal font (KoXv Ai * pa, or piscina), in which those to be baptized were immersed thrice.
There was the lighting of the large Paschal candle, and then at midnight the consecration of the waters of the baptismal font.
There are also some Saxon remains on the site; the relics of an early Saxon church and a baptismal font.
