The Moon was first visited by the Soviet spacecraft Luna 2 in 1959.
In referring to Luna, Spong was speaking about another unusual instance of a solitary orca known to scientists as L98.
It arose as the successor of the ancient Luna, 3 m.
Early names for it are Lac argenti and Luna cornea, the first referring to its form when freshly precipitated, the latter to its appearance after fusion.
But beyond Florentia, between Luca (Lucca) and Luna, we find another Forum Clodii, and the Antonine Itinerary gives the route from Luca to Rome as being by the Via Clodia - wrongly as regards the portion from Florentia southwards, but perhaps rightly as regards that from Luca to Florentia.
